OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Work: A New Era of AI-Powered Workplace Automation

OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Work, a GPT-5.6-powered workplace agent that blends ChatGPT with Codex to help professionals get work done; not just generate answers. Designed for non-technical users, it can understand context from files, apps, and connected tools to create reports, presentations, spreadsheets, dashboards, forecasts, websites, and more.

With support for 1,400+ integrations, ChatGPT Work connects to platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, SharePoint, email, calendars, CRMs, and project management tools. A new Plan Mode lets users review the AI's approach before it starts, while Scheduled Tasks automate recurring work and keep projects moving even when users are away.

Initially launching on desktop, with web and mobile support rolling out to paid and education users, ChatGPT Work signals a broader shift in enterprise AI—from chatbots that respond to prompts to intelligent agents that can execute real-world workflows.

Altera

Altera Bets Big on AI and Robotics

Altera is positioning itself as a key player in the AI hardware ecosystem by expanding the role of its FPGA chips alongside GPUs. CEO Raghib Hussain says FPGAs act as the "nervous system" of AI, handling tasks such as connectivity, sensor fusion, and data pre-processing that help AI systems run more efficiently.

The company expects mid-20% annual growth as demand for AI infrastructure and robotics accelerates. Hussain believes AI-powered robots could create a multi-billion-dollar opportunity for FPGA suppliers over the next decade.

To strengthen its AI strategy, Altera has introduced six new chip prototypes, become the first programmable chip maker to mass-produce DDR5-enabled FPGAs, and built a memory stockpile to navigate supply constraints. As it prepares for a future IPO, Altera is betting that specialized AI chips; not just GPUs; will play a critical role in powering the next generation of intelligent systems.

Meta launches Spark 1.1

Meta has officially released Spark 1.1, its latest AI model built for agentic workflows, giving developers API access for the first time. The model is designed to handle complex reasoning, computer use, and long-running tasks, signaling Meta's growing ambitions in the AI infrastructure market.

Spark 1.1 enters public preview with API pricing of $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens—around a quarter of what many leading frontier models cost. Meta says the model delivers state-of-the-art, or near state-of-the-art, performance on agent reasoning and tool-use benchmarks, outperforming models like Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 in several internal evaluations.

The model is optimized for real-world AI agents, allowing it to operate across multiple applications, break complex jobs into parallel sub-agents, and leverage a 1-million-token context window to complete extended workflows without losing context. Developers can start testing the model immediately with $20 in free API credits during the public preview.

Beyond the launch itself, Spark 1.1 highlights Meta's broader strategy: delivering competitive frontier AI at significantly lower prices. Rather than competing on capability alone, the company is betting that a strong balance of performance and affordability will attract developers building the next generation of AI applications. Meta has also confirmed that a larger successor, codenamed Watermelon, is currently in training and expected to arrive later this year, suggesting the company is only beginning its push into the frontier AI race.
