OpenAI
OpenAI Slows Astra over Cybersecurity Risk

OpenAI is slowing development of its upcoming AI model, Astra, after internal safety tests raised serious cybersecurity concerns.
The Details:
The company said early evaluations suggest Astra may have reached its “critical” cybersecurity capability level. This means the model could potentially identify software weaknesses and carry out sophisticated cyberattacks with limited human help.
Because of these risks, OpenAI has paused some development work while it investigates Astra’s capabilities and strengthens its safety controls. The company is also increasing monitoring and testing before allowing further progress.
OpenAI said Astra is still under development and has not been linked to the recent Hugging Face security incident.
The decision shows how quickly advanced AI systems are becoming more capable and why stronger safety measures are becoming increasingly important.
For AI companies, the challenge is no longer only building smarter models. They also need to make sure those models cannot be easily misused.
Hassabis Changes Role at DeepMind

Google DeepMind co-founder Demis Hassabis is stepping away from his day-to-day role as CEO. He will become chair of DeepMind and chief scientist at Alphabet, Google’s parent company.
The Details:
Hassabis, who co-founded DeepMind and sold it to Google in 2014, helped lead major AI breakthroughs including AlphaGo and AlphaFold. AlphaFold’s work contributed to his 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Koray Kavukcuoglu, a longtime DeepMind colleague, will take over as senior vice-president and handle the unit’s operational leadership.
Hassabis says the change will give him more time to focus on the bigger picture of AI and scientific breakthroughs. Google also rejected claims that his move was caused by Gemini’s performance.
The leadership change comes as Google faces strong competition from OpenAI and Anthropic, while its next major model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, has reportedly been delayed.
At the same time, DeepMind chief scientist Jeff Dean is leaving with three other researchers to start a new AI company called Discovery Loop.

Cloudflare Builds Kitesurf Browser for AI

Cloudflare has launched Kitesurf, a new browser designed specifically for AI agents rather than human users.
The Details:
Unlike regular browsers, Kitesurf focuses on the tasks AI agents need, such as loading web pages, running JavaScript, reading page content, clicking buttons, and taking screenshots.
It removes many features that traditional browsers need for human users, helping reduce resource use.
Kitesurf runs on Cloudflare Workers and is designed to make it easier for developers to build AI agents that can browse and interact with websites.
Cloudflare says the browser can use 3–7 times less CPU and memory than Chromium for some agent tasks.
The launch comes as AI agents become more important on the web.
Cloudflare has already been building tools such as Browser Run, which lets developers run and control browser sessions for AI agents on its global network.
Kitesurf is currently available in beta, giving developers a new option for building faster and more scalable AI-powered web agents.

AI Lesson
Turn ChatGPT Into AI Agents With Raft

Step 1 — Define your team
Create separate agents for specific jobs, such as Researcher, Writer, Fact Checker, and Editor.
Step 2 — Give each agent a clear role
Use this prompt:
You are my [ROLE] agent. Your job is to [TASK]. Follow these rules: be accurate, concise, practical, and never invent facts. Before finishing, check your work and clearly flag anything uncertain.
Step 3 — Create your Researcher agent
Research this topic: [TOPIC]. Find the most important facts, recent developments, statistics, and reliable sources. Organize the findings into clear bullet points. Separate confirmed facts from claims that need verification.
Step 4 — Create your Writer agent
Using the research provided, write a simple, engaging article for [AUDIENCE]. Use short sentences, clear headings, and natural language. Do not add information that is not supported by the research.
Step 5 — Add a Fact Checker
Check the draft line by line. Identify unsupported claims, outdated information, misleading statements, and factual errors. Suggest exact corrections and explain what needs verification.
Step 6 — Add an Editor
Improve the corrected draft for clarity, flow, SEO, and readability. Remove repetition and complex wording while keeping every important fact accurate.
Step 7 — Run the team
Researcher → Writer → Fact Checker → Editor
This creates a simple AI workflow where each agent handles one job instead of asking one ChatGPT conversation to do everything.
